Garmin nuMaps Lifetime Updates December 23, 2009 S. Frohman (PA) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
What can you say. The definition sums it up for the most part. If you own a Garmin GPS or Navigation system (most models), this card is supposed to give you lifetime updates for the life of your specific unit.
It can only be assigned to one Garmin unit so it can't be used on multiple devices. The cost is a little high,(better on Amazon then anywhere else)but it is definitely cheaper in the long run than buyiing another newer "inexpensive" GPS unit with current maps, because it appears Garmin posts updates about 4 times a year, and you can use this for several years.
Installation isn't difficult, after your product id is properly registered, which you must do before you can use the card to update. You can go right to Garmin's website, and click on the map updates section. However, installation is time consuming. You aren't goiing to hook it up and be ready to go in an hour. Using a high speed DSL connection took me about a total of 6 hours to perform the upgrade. I actually performed the upgrade on 3 seperate units, and it was the same on all of them. Other than the time it took it went very smoothly, and it does work well.
You will also need a USB cable that is not supplied with the card or the GPS unit, at least in my case. I was able to use the same cable that connects my older Canon Powershot S30 Digital camera to the USB port on my computer.
Overall, definitely a recommended product.

Lifetime updates for less than twice the price of one update, and up to four times a year.
Once you have registered your product online, getting updates is as easy as going to the Garmine site, entering the key number and the software checks for available updates and loads them if needed.
It works better than my factory NAV unit!
A Really Good Deal May 7, 2010 M. Roberts (Chesterfield, MO USA) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
There were several steps involved in downloading the software, but I followed the instructions and it worked. The entire process took about an hour. I now have the latest maps and will be able to upgrade to newer maps as they are released.
Worth the money June 5, 2009 on the Gulf (Largo, FL) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Installing the update onto my nuvi 750 took about 45 minutes and was easy. It's great not to hunt down restaurants that no longer exist. What else is there to say? I'm happy with the new map.

What can I say, it worked as advertized. The code worked fine and the download was reasonably fast. There were not any problems with the install. I am not sure why but, I have had some routing problems since the update, not quite sure what is going on.
