A clever and useful accessory May 25, 2008 J. M. Fitzpatrick (Australia) 30 out of 30 found this review helpful
This vent mount is very useful, provided that your car has a suitable vent- this means the vent must be located suitably to accommodate the GPS unit, and the slats on the vent must be horizontal.
I found the mount was very easy to use with my Nuvi 760. It was easy to attach to and detach from the vent. Also, it was straightforward to attach the GPS unit. There is an adjustable leg on the mount which helps to secure the mount to the vent in a stable fashion.
Some people may prefer this mount to the windshield suction cup mount.
Also, this mount is useful in places where windshield mounts are not permitted (e.g. California).
I used the mount with various rental cars while touring- it was equally successful in each car (the cars I used it in were 2008 Chrysler Sebring, 2008 Chevrolet Trailblazer, 2008 Jeep Liberty and 2007 Toyota Solara).
It was sufficiently stable to allow for the GPS unit to be used while attached to the vent.
Works fine, better than the suction cup mount that comes with your Nuvi. February 13, 2008 J. Ferguson (Washington, DC) 36 out of 37 found this review helpful
Way cheaper on Amazon than on Ebay...I wanted a mount that would be inexpensive and not attract attention like the windshield suction cup holder. I also didn't like the look of the dashboard beanbag mount because it looks like crap. The vent mount is inexpensive and my field of vision isn't impaired like it was with the windshield suction cup. Plus it is now a ergonomically closer for me to use the touchscreen with than before. It won't fall off periodically like the suction cup mount as well.
Just what I needed... July 18, 2008 Jeffrey Bennett (sf, ca) 17 out of 18 found this review helpful
I didn't like any of the other mounting options available. This set-up keeps my GPS below the windshield and dash and does not interfere with my line-of-site while driving. The unit is perfectly placed in the mid-upper dash area just like a built-in, factory system. Very clean and uncluttered. The mount hold the GPS reasonably steady and secure, swivels so that a passenger can use it, and is easy to install and remove. Perfect solution and great price.
Great little device December 30, 2008 Y. Xing (Los Angeles, CA United States) 9 out of 9 found this review helpful
Very east to use, extremely portable. It came as 3 parts- I had to assemble the 2 clips. Later I realized it was actually a wonderful feature: I can take it apart and squeeze it into my limited suitcase space- no need to worry about breaking it. When using it, just need a bit practice of putting it up to the vent and taking it off, I don't think it did any damage to my vent. The adjustable foot has a felt pad that also prevent scratching. The vent position is perfect for the driver to handle the GPS, way easier than the windshield mount or dash mount. Now I use it all the time even though I just spent almost $30 for the dash friction mount. Highly recommend it!
Impressive, works well with my Nuvi 660 August 19, 2008 RexB (EasBay, CA) 8 out of 8 found this review helpful
I live in CA so windshield mount is not allowed and i did not want any sticky disc on my dashboard so this vent mount would be my other option.I've looked at different vent mounts and this one looked pretty simple and straightforward. Was just worried it may not work for my 660 because of it's weight and might easily break but the whole mount looks sturdy. Installation and removal is easy. When mounted on my vent i like the placement and it makes it easy to access the Nuvi. I was skeptical at first that the Nuvi might jump around, rattle or come loose but it was steady and firm when i tested and drove my car around. I even intentionally ran some speedbumps and did some quick turns to see if it will rattle but it held it's place and did not even move. Can't wait to try it and test it even more but i think overall i'm happy with the fitment and works the way i expected it to be.
